Thoughts straight from the horse's mouth!

August Preview:

August has been a great month for us in past years. We have always made a profit and for 4 of the 5 times we have tackled August we have come away with double figure profit. A highlight was 2017 where we managed to hit a huge +68pts. The highlight of the month is undoubtedly the York Ebor Festival, it is a huge festival and it is a week to savour.

The month starts slowly, the first week is pretty poor besides some bumper Saturday cards from Haydock, Ascot and Newmarket. The Shergar Cup takes over Ascot, it is a weird event truth be told but I have to admit I'm not totally against it. The racing is good quality and the field sizes are usually decent. Haydock hosts a good card that day with the highlight race the Rose of Lancaster Stakes.

The following week is much better, there is racing from Newbury, Newmarket and Ripon towards the back end of the week. Saturday's action includes races such as the Great St Wilfred (big field handicap from Ripon), The Grey Horse Handicap from Newmarket (a particular favourite of mine) and The Hungerford Stakes from Newbury.

The month really heats up the next week with the York Ebor Festival, this festival runs from Wednesday 18th through to Saturday 21st. Each day is filled with high class action and it combines some high class group action alongside some top notch big field handicaps. That Saturday also sees Chester and Chelmsford both host great cards, this will be a busy day for us with all 3 meetings heavily targeted.

The last week of the month is fairly quiet however Goodwood does stage a good card on the Saturday with the Celebration Mile a particular highlight worth noting.

Major Events:

Shergar Cup - Ascot (Saturday 7th)
Rose of Lancaster Stakes - Haydock (Saturday 7th)
Sweet Solera Stakes - Newmarket (Saturday 7th)
Grey Horse Handicap - Newmarket (Saturday 14th)
Hungerford Stakes - Newbury (Saturday 14th)
Great St Wilfred Handicap - Ripon (Saturday 14th)
York Ebor Festival - York (Wednesday 18th - Saturday 21st)
Chelmsford City Cup Handicap - Chelmsford (Saturday 21st)
Chester Stakes - Chester (Saturday 21st)
The Solario Stakes - Sandown (Saturday 21st)
The Celebration Mile Stakes - Goodwood (Saturday 29th)

Our Targets:

The first target will be reaching +15pts, once we reach that we can reassess. Overall given our record in the month we will be hoping to hit double figure profit at the very least.

Thanks
